Quick answer
Hush Ink Black Contact Lenses give the iris a deep, even black that softens into charcoal rather than ending in a hard ring.
What the Shade Looks Like
Up close, the center is an even, saturated ink black — matte-soft, with no glitter and no print lines crossing the iris.
Toward the edge the black loosens into smoky charcoal and blurs away, so there is no hard rim and no flat, stenciled circle.
The coverage stays consistent from the pupil outward, which is why the tone holds in daylight instead of fading to gray.
What to Wear With Black
-
Washed Denim and White: a plain white tee, faded straight-leg jeans, a slim silver chain.
-
Black Satin and Gold: a bias-cut slip in true black, brushed gold hoops, bare shoulders.
-
Cream, Camel, and Oatmeal: an oatmeal knit, a camel wool coat, ivory trousers, pearl studs.
Where They Fit
Office days, commutes, long flights, coffee-shop photos, dinner plans — and a party or a cosplay look, if you want darker eyes without a costume feel.
In bright daylight they stay black rather than turning chalky gray.
Everyday Wear: Yes
I would wear these on an ordinary weekday with brows and lip balm and nothing else. Keep liner thin and skip heavy smoky shadow, which can make a black lens read smaller. After dark, smudged brown liner and mascara push the same pair further.
FAQ
Are they really black, or dark gray? Both, depending on where you look: black through the center, charcoal at the edge. From a normal distance the eye simply reads black.
What do I wear with black contact lenses? Washed denim with white, black satin with gold, or cream and camel knits.
Can I wear them every day? Yes, for work and daylight; for night, add liner and skip heavy shadow.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
