Blue Contact Lenses for a Cold Gaze

Blue contact lenses can make or break a Wriothesley cosplay. You can get the coat, collar, and wig right and still watch the look flatten on camera. For a Wriothesley cosplay lens, the stare has to run cold: darker at the edges, brighter near the center, set in a face that is not smiling.

What This Midnight Blue Really Looks Like

Up close, the base is a deep midnight blue, like crushed denim rather than open sky. A pale frost-white ring sits around the pupil, then the color deepens into a defined navy rim, keeping the outer iris dark. It is a cool, shaded blue, not a bright pop, with a grainy surface and a bright catch near the inner edge.

Convention Light and Photo Tests

Con light never holds still: cool overheads, warm bounce, hard stage flash. The pale inner ring reads at a distance; the navy edge keeps the eye from going blank in flash-heavy frames. Take one test frame before the full set — a screen check beats a reshoot.

Wig, Collar, and Cool-Toned Makeup

Ash brown and grey-taupe shadows keep the lid cool; warm bronze and gold pull against it. A thin black liner along the upper lash line, flicked outward, gives the eye the sharp angle of the artwork without closing it up. Wear the pair with a silver-black streaked wig, high dark collar, and one red accent — the red makes the cool blue read deliberate.

A cosplayer in our group chat said: “Nobody asked about the lenses. They assumed the eyes were mine.”

From CCUS EYEWEAR

CCUS EYEWEAR builds this midnight blue pair for cosplay, where the character-facing details — pale inner ring, navy rim, quiet texture — are the point. Search Wriothesley cosplay contacts, Wriothesley cosplay lens, or Wriothesley cosplay contact lenses for the same cold gaze.

Care: wash and dry your hands before handling, keep the case clean, use fresh solution, store out of direct sun. Never share lenses with another cosplayer.

  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
