Quick Answer
Haze Lily Black Contact Lenses are a near-black shade with a milky grey gradient — soft eye depth that still reads like you in daylight.
What the Shade Looks Like
The center is dense, inky near-black, then the color loosens into a milky grey mist that spreads outward. A fine dot-mesh pattern carries that grey toward the edge, so the blend reads soft rather than banded. Light catches the surface in a quiet highlight that lifts the middle. The outer rim is a gentle darkening rather than a hard circle.
What to Wear With Black
-
Clean daylight neutrals. Oatmeal knit, ivory straight-leg denim, tan loafers, brushed gold hoops, skin tint and taupe lids.
-
Soft evening black. Black satin slip dress or a cropped blazer over a grey ribbed tank, silver chains, patent slingbacks, glossy nude lip.
-
Weekend layering. Washed denim jacket, white tee, grey wide-leg trousers, canvas sneakers, sheer balm, bare lids.
Where They Fit
Desk days, video calls and travel days, where quiet depth still reads as your own face. Also low-light dinners and birthday photos when you want the eyes to carry the look. These black contact lenses work with minimal makeup as easily as with soft liner.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes — the misty grey blend keeps this pair easy for daytime with neutral clothes and light makeup. Skip it when you want an obvious, high-contrast change; the softness is the point.
FAQ
Is the shade really black? It is near-black at the center with a milky grey gradient, so the effect is smoky and soft rather than solid.
What do I wear with black contact lenses? Neutrals first — cream, oatmeal, ivory denim, grey, silver or brushed gold. Black satin and wool work too when makeup stays light.
Are they everyday-appropriate? Yes, in daylight with light makeup. They feel less right if you want a hard graphic edge.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
