Quick answer

Hush Hour Smoke Grey Contact Lenses are a cool, softly diffused grey with a fine dotted mesh and a feathered rim. Daylight keeps them everyday; flash makes them moody.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a true smoke grey — no silver glare, no blue cast. Around the pupil it stays sheer, while a fine halftone mesh of tiny dots builds outward in soft layers. That gradient is why the grey sits inside the eye instead of on top of it. The outer rim is a deeper charcoal with a softly diffused edge, and a bright highlight catches at the top of the iris in photos.

What to Wear With Grey

  1. Daylight neutrals. Cream ribbed knit, oat linen shirt, ecru straight-leg denim, brushed silver hoops.
  2. Soft work tailoring. Pale grey wool blazer, white poplin shirt, charcoal trousers, thin silver chain.
  3. Evening smoke. Black slip dress, charcoal satin skirt, cropped leather jacket, pewter hardware, plum lip.

Where They Fit

Coffee runs, desk-to-dinner workdays, travel days, dinner photos, any moment you want a cool, awake-looking eye. The diffused edge keeps them believable at a morning meeting, while the deeper rim carries them into a night out. A nude-beige wash of shadow is all the makeup the shade needs.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The dotted mesh keeps the outer edge soft, so this grey fits a normal week rather than a special occasion. Indoors it reads close to a natural dark grey; in sunlight or flash the mesh and rim look far more graphic. If you want a hard black ring, this will feel too quiet.

FAQ

What color is it really? A cool smoke grey that deepens into a charcoal rim, with no blue or silver shimmer.

What should I wear with grey contact lenses? Cool neutrals — cream, oat, ecru, charcoal — with silver or pewter metals; a plum lip adds one warm accent.

Are they an everyday look? Yes, for most days; they simply read stronger under flash or in dim rooms.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
