Quick Answer

Golden Foam Brown Contact Lenses are a warm golden-brown pair with a soft, foamy center-to-edge blend. These brown contact lenses look like your own eye color on a very good light day.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is toasted golden brown, not flat chocolate. The center stays clear around the pupil, the warmth sits in the mid-iris, then feathers outward with no hard line. A fine, soft diffusion across the surface keeps the color from reading painted-on. There is no dark outer ring, so the edge dissolves instead of framing. In daylight the gold comes forward; in low light the brown goes quiet and neutral.

What to Wear With Brown

Build the outfit warm and low-contrast, then let the eyes do the talking.

  1. Soft daytime minimal. Cream ribbed knit, light-wash denim, a tan leather belt, brushed gold hoops.
  2. Warm office neutral. Camel blazer, ivory silk shell, chocolate trousers, one gold watch.
  3. Evening in bronze. Espresso satin slip dress, black leather jacket, bronze statement earrings.

Where They Fit

Errands, coffee runs, long travel days, and candlelight dinners all suit them. They also finish a party look or a cosplay idea without going costumey, and they photograph beautifully in bare-skin daylight.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes — this is an everyday pair. The blend is soft enough for work, errands, and no-makeup makeup days, and the gold only shows when light hits. Skip it if you want a dramatic change.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
