Quick answer

Glass Haze Brown Contact Lenses are a soft, frosted brown glaze with a blurred edge — glossy in flash photos, quiet in daylight. If you want brown contact lenses that read like a filter instead of a costume, start here.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the lens is a medium warm brown with a milky, slightly cool frost through the center. The middle is the brightest point, then the brown deepens outward in one smooth wash. There is no visible dot mesh and no hard outer ring; the color feathers toward the edge and disappears instead of stopping at a line. That soft-focus blend is the whole shade — it looks like a filter laid over the iris, not a graphic printed on it. The finish reads satin rather than mirror-glossy.

What to Wear With Brown

Frosted brown is a neutral, so the 2000s energy comes from the styling.

  1. Low-rise denim and a baby tee. Light-wash flares, a white cropped tee, a faded denim jacket, thin silver hoops, a butterfly clip, frosty champagne shadow and clear gloss.
  2. Satin slip and soft metals. An espresso satin slip with a sheer brown cardigan, small gold hoops and a glossy nude lip.
  3. Pop-glam party mix. A black mini with a silver top, frosted pink highlight, thin brows and a glossy berry lip.

Where They Fit

Everyday first: coffee runs, desk days, class, brunch and travel, especially with soft brown liner. They also hold up in flash photography, so birthday dinners, house parties and Y2K nights are a natural fit. For cosplay, treat this brown as a soft glam base and let bold liner carry the character.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one adjustment. Keep a little definition — soft liner, thin brows, a touch of lower-lash mascara. Skip heavy black liner if you want the brown to stay soft.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
