Quick answer

Glass Equinox Silver Contact Lenses are a deep charcoal-black lens laced with a fine silver-grey dot mesh — soft in daylight, sharp after dark.

What the Shade Looks Like

The center of the lens is near-black and holds that depth across the middle of the iris, then loosens into a fine dot mesh that lightens as it travels outward. No drawn star, no graphic line — the pattern is all dot work. The outer edge is a soft, slightly blurred ring in the same dark tone that settles against the lash line instead of circling the eye.

What to Wear With Silver

1. Soft grey minimal: a white poplin shirt, heather grey knit, straight ecru denim, one thin silver chain. 2. Black on black: a black slip dress, matte leather jacket, small silver hoops. 3. Warm contrast: a camel wool coat over cream silk, tan suede boots, antique brass jewelry — the warmth makes the cool eye area pop.

Where They Fit

Ordinary days, desk days, long train rides. If you have been curious about silver contact lenses but want the quiet end of the category, this is it. They also hold up in black-and-white photos and sit nicely under pale cosplay makeup.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one honest condition: the dark center gives the eye area more definition than bare skin, which suits a normal Tuesday as easily as a dinner. Skip them if you want your natural iris to stay visibly light.

FAQ

Are silver contact lenses actually silver? The base is black; the fine silver-grey mesh is what you notice first, so the cast is cool and ashy rather than bright.

What pairs with them? Cool neutrals: white, grey, ecru denim, black leather, silver-toned metal. Camel or cream adds contrast.

Can I wear them every day? Yes, if you like a more defined eye. They look most natural in daylight and most dramatic after dark.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
