Quick Answer

Gentle Autumn Brown Contact Lenses are an even, mid-tone brown lens with a clean center-to-edge wash and no hard rim — and yes, they’re built for everyday wear.

What the Shade Looks Like

Close up, the base is a soft cocoa brown, warm but never orange. Color runs from the pupil through the mid iris in a smooth, even wash with a clean transition — no smoky gradient, no dark halo. The surface is smooth, with no dotted mesh and no glossy film over the center. The outer edge feathers away instead of drawing a line, so the lens reads as iris, not a colored disc.

What to Wear With Brown

1. Daylight neutrals: a cream ribbed tank, ecru denim, tan sandals, brushed gold hoops — warm metal makes brown look lit from inside.

2. Office polish: an oatmeal blazer, white poplin shirt, charcoal trousers, chocolate loafers, a thin silver watch — cool metal keeps it from going sweet.

3. Evening contrast: a black satin slip dress, gold chains, a berry lip — brown warms black instead of vanishing into it.

Where They Fit

Errand mornings, a Monday meeting, a long travel day, brunch photos, casual portraits. This lens blends rather than announces itself. It also suits a low-key cosplay or theme night where you want warmer eyes, not a costume.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The color holds in daylight, office light, and phone-camera portraits, and the feathered edge keeps it from reading as costume. The one time I’d skip them is a high-contrast look — sharp black liner plus heavy smoke — where soft brown gets out-argued.

FAQ

What color are these brown contact lenses? A clear cocoa brown, mid-depth and slightly muted, with an even wash and a soft fading edge.

What should I wear with them? Cream, camel, oatmeal, chocolate, and charcoal — gold in daylight, silver for the office.

Can I wear them every day? Yes — quiet enough for work and weekends, and the smooth edge keeps it natural.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
