Quick Answer

Gala Hour Brown Contact Lenses are a deep chocolate brown with a softly blended edge, so they read soft glam in photos without tipping into costume.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a rich chocolate brown with a warm undertone — melted cocoa rather than cool grey-brown. Color is deepest around the pupil and opens outward, so the center-to-mid transition stays gradual and nothing looks stamped on. The pigment spreads as a smooth, even wash that lets your own iris texture show through. There is no hard outer ring: the edge feathers into the lash line instead of drawing a circle.

What to Wear With Brown

Brown works like a neutral with a heartbeat: warm metals flatter it, charcoal sharpens it.

  1. Champagne silk for evenings. A champagne silk slip dress, fine gold chain, small gold hoops — blended bronze shadow and fluttery lashes keep the eye soft glam.
  2. Camel and cream for daylight. Camel wool coat, cream ribbed knit, ivory trousers, tan loafers, pearl studs.
  3. Espresso tailoring for work. Espresso blazer, white poplin shirt, charcoal trousers, a slim silver-tone watch.

Where They Fit

Wedding guest dressing, rehearsal dinners and prom photos suit this shade best — nights with candlelight and a camera. It also holds on a Tuesday: coffee run, client meeting, dinner after.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The tone sits close to a natural dark iris and the blended edge keeps the lash line clean in daylight. Skip it only when you want a high-contrast, theatrical eye.

FAQ

What color are these brown contact lenses? A deep chocolate brown with warm undertones — darkest at the pupil and softening through the mid-iris to a feathered edge.

What should I wear with them? Warm neutrals: champagne, cream, camel, espresso, oyster. Gold leans into the warmth, charcoal adds contrast.

Do they work for everyday wear? Yes. The color spreads smoothly with no hard outer ring, so it stays believable in daylight and looks polished at night.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
