Quick answer

Frosted Steel Grey Contact Lenses are grey contact lenses with an icy blue printed center that melts into a smoky steel field. Frosty in flash photos, quietly neutral in daylight.

What the Shade Looks Like

The center is a bright icy blue, printed as a fine dot pattern rather than solid pigment. It fades outward into smoky steel grey that reaches the edge, softening rather than cutting a hard rim line. The surface reads satin — soft and diffused, with no wet gloss ring.

What to Wear With Grey

These grey contact lenses sit cool, so keep metals silver and whites icy.

1. Y2K denim uniform: low-rise bootcut jeans, a white cropped baby tee, a silver chain belt, butterfly clips, thin brows.

2. Frosted glam: a pale grey satin slip dress, frosted silver shadow swept to the brow, glossy pink lip, no warm bronze.

3. After-party contrast: a black leather mini, a charcoal ribbed tank, sheer black tights, matte nude lip.

Where They Fit

I’d wear these to a 2000s-themed party, a flash-photo birthday or a late-night shoot. With a neutral liner and satin lip they pass for a casual office. Cosplay is a bonus, not a requirement.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one rule: keep the makeup clean. Bare lids, a thin brow and gloss keep them neutral for errands and workdays. Add blue shadow and glitter and they belong at the party, not your desk.

FAQ

Are they grey or blue? Sold as grey contact lenses, and the overall look reads grey — the center is an icy blue print that melts into a smoky steel field.

What makeup suits them? Frosted silver or white shadow, thin brows and a glossy pink lip; skip warm bronze.

Can I wear them daily? Yes, with clean neutral makeup — save the full Y2K beat for nights out.

Contact Lens Care Guidelines

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.
  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
