Quick answer

Frosted Raven Black Contact Lenses are a full-coverage black pair with a fine dotted mesh that looks dramatic in flash photos and clean in daylight. If you want black contact lenses with a 2000s pop-glam edge, build the look around them.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is a deep, saturated black that fills from center to edge with no hard outer ring. A fine dotted mesh covers the surface — tiny pigment points, not drawn lines — and it thins toward the perimeter, so the edge blurs into the lash line instead of stamping a circle. The overall finish is full and even.

What to Wear With Black

  1. Y2K denim: low-rise bootcut jeans, a white ribbed baby tee, a cropped nylon bomber, chunky silver hoops, thin brows.
  2. Frosted glam: a satin slip dress, a fuzzy cardigan, frosted white eyeshadow, a glossy pink lip, butterfly clips.
  3. Clean and modern: charcoal knitwear, a leather jacket, straight black trousers, brushed metal rings.

Where They Fit

Birthday dinners, rooftop parties, a Halloween look, a quick cosplay finish — all easy. They also work for travel days and a casual office where a darker eye reads polished. Keep the rest of your makeup light.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one condition: they work on days when you want a bold, defined eye. With tinted moisturizer, concealer, and lip balm they look intentional. On a bare-faced morning the full coverage reads heavy — that’s when I’d pick something softer.

FAQ

What color are these lenses? Deep black, even from center to edge, with a fine dotted mesh and no hard rim, so the edge blends instead of ringing.

What should I wear with them? Low-rise denim and baby tees for the Y2K mood, a slip dress with frosted makeup for softer days, or leather and charcoal for a clean finish.

Can I wear black contact lenses every day? Yes, if a bold dark eye suits your routine — keep the makeup light and skip them when you’re bare-faced.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
