Quick answer

Freesia Mist Grey Contact Lenses are soft, misty grey contact lenses built for everyday wear: the grey sits quietly over the iris and fades at the edge, so the eye looks finished rather than costumed.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is a clean mid-grey with a cool, smoky tone and no blue or green cast. The grey holds evenly through the center, then breaks into a fine dotted mesh that thins toward the edge, like a light veil over the iris. The border is a soft grey rim — a defining edge rather than a black ring — so the eye keeps a natural outline. The iris simply looks cooler and deeper in tone.

What to Wear With Grey

  1. Cool neutrals: a cream ribbed knit, straight-leg denim, silver hoops. Oatmeal, stone, and washed blue keep the grey clean.
  2. Soft romantic: a dusty rose slip dress, a fine cardigan, pearl studs, nude-pink lip. Muted pink softens the grey.
  3. Monochrome evening: charcoal wool trousers, a dove grey silk shirt, a black belt, matte berry lip. Two greys make the eye look intentional.

Where They Fit

These grey contact lenses work for workdays, coffee runs, museum afternoons, travel days, and photos. The grey holds up in daylight without looking theatrical and still reads in dim restaurant light. It also works for cosplay or costume portraits when you want neutral eyes, but it never needs a costume.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. The grey is soft enough for a bare face and no-makeup makeup, and it does not fight a simple outfit. For a bold, high-contrast grey eye, choose a lens with a stronger rim instead.

FAQ

Are they really grey, or do they read black once worn? Soft grey. The center is mid-grey and the edge is a quieter grey rim rather than black, so the eye stays light instead of sooty.

What should I wear with grey contact lenses? Cool neutrals, dusty pink, slate, denim, charcoal. Silver keeps the look cool; gold warms it and can dull the grey.

Is the dotted texture visible in person? Only up close. At normal distance the mesh blends into the iris, which is why it looks soft in photos and daylight.

Contact Lens Care Guidelines

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.

  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
