Quick answer

Flip Phone Cocoa Brown Contact Lenses are the clear-centered brown contact lenses for a Y2K flash-photo eye — warm cocoa, smooth finish, easy on a normal Tuesday.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the lens is a soft milk-cocoa brown with a clear center, then a gentle gradient that deepens toward the outer edge. There is no printed dotting, no mesh and no hard dark rim — the color simply fades out, so the eye stays soft instead of outlined. The bright spot in photos is flash, not a built-in gloss.

Because the middle stays clear, the brown melts into your own iris rather than sitting on top of it. The effect is warmth and depth, not a hard swap.

What to Wear With Brown

1. Low-rise denim. Bootcut jeans, a white baby tee, a caramel velour hoodie, silver hoops and frosty champagne highlight.

2. Satin and pink. A chocolate slip dress, or a black mini with a baby pink tee, thin brows, frosted white shadow, clear glossy lip.

3. Camel and cream. A cream blazer, a camel knit and gold hoops — warm enough for class, work and coffee runs.

Where They Fit

They shine in flash: photo dumps, dorm selfies, Y2K parties, concerts. They also sit quietly at brunch, in a lecture hall or on a flight. Cosplay and wig styling are optional extras, not the whole story.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes. Daylight keeps them soft and low-key for school, work, errands and travel. They only turn glam once you add highlight, liner and gloss.

  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
