Quick Answer

Flashbulb Jet Black Contact Lenses give you a deep black base with a warm brown center — black contact lenses built for Y2K flash-photo glamour, frosty highlight and glossy lips.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a deep black field across the iris, then a clear shift into warm brown at the center. There is no printed dot mesh, glitter or graphic motif, just a smooth pigment wash. The outer edge softens into the natural iris instead of drawing a hard rim, and no gloss is printed in. That brown center is the detail that keeps the black from looking flat in photos.

What to Wear With Black

1. Low-rise denim and frost. Faded light-blue low-rise jeans, a white ribbed tank, a thin silver chain belt, square-toe boots, frosted shadow and a thin brow.

2. Espresso satin and gloss. A bias-cut brown slip dress, a sheer black cardigan, icy highlighter on the cheekbones, clear gloss and small silver hoops.

3. Chrome cargo and butterfly clips. Black cargos, a cropped baby tee with a metallic print, a chrome mini bag, butterfly clips and a glossy nude lip.

Where They Fit

Desk days, coffee runs, flash-lit parties and Y2K-themed shoots. Cosplay is an option, never a requirement.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with one caveat. The brown center keeps daylight believable, so they read as a bold beauty choice rather than a costume. On bare-faced mornings, scale the shadow down and save the full frost for nights out.

FAQ

What color are they? Deep black at the base, warm brown at the center, so the overall effect is smoky rather than solid.

What should I wear with them? Low-rise denim and a ribbed tank for full Y2K, or a brown slip dress with frosted makeup for something softer.

Can I wear them every day? Yes — the soft edge and brown center keep the look wearable; I just lighten the makeup for workdays.

  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
