Quick Answer
Equinox Oslo Grey Contact Lenses are a soft grey-black pair with a fine dot-melt finish, and the effect is sheer, everyday grey — not a hard blackout.
What the Shade Looks Like
This grey contact lens isn’t a solid block of pigment. The base is a translucent charcoal grey, and the center stays clear so your own iris shows through the middle. A fine pixel-dot texture then spreads outward and thins as it goes, so the pattern melts rather than ends. There is no hard outer ring — the edge dissolves toward the lash line, which is what keeps it quiet. The finish reads matte-soft, with all the softness coming from texture rather than shine.
What to Wear With Grey Contact Lenses
Cool grey is the easiest neutral to style, so let the lens do the work.
-
Soft neutrals. Oatmeal cashmere, cream wide-leg trousers, a camel coat, small silver or pearl-toned hoops.
-
City cool. White poplin shirt, black leather jacket, dark indigo denim, brushed gunmetal jewelry.
-
Evening, still minimal. A black silk slip dress, sheer tights, one thin silver chain, clean bare skin.
Where They Fit
Office days, coffee runs, travel, and photos where you want definition without obvious makeup. Parties work too, and for a themed night they can sit behind a costume rather than lead it.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one condition. They suit daily styling when you want deeper, softer grey depth. Skip them when you want a bright, obviously colored doll eye for a photo set.
FAQ
Are these grey or black? In between — translucent charcoal grey with a clear center that shows your own iris, deepest through the mid-iris.
What should I pair with grey contact lenses? Cream, oatmeal, camel, white, black, denim and charcoal. Silver and gunmetal flatter them more than yellow gold.
Can I wear them every day? Yes, for everyday styling with minimal makeup. For high-impact color, a stronger shade works better.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
