Gold Contact Lenses That Hold a Room

Festival Sunburst Gold Contact Lenses — gold contact lenses with real presence. Wig taped down, costume zipped, one last look in the mirror: the eyes land before the props do, and a warm yellow-gold pair carries the whole face across a crowded hall.

What the Gold Looks Like Up Close

The center glows a bright, sunny yellow right around the pupil, then feathers outward into a deeper amber-gold. There is no hard outer ring cutting the color off, so the transition stays soft and blended — more halo than graphic edge. The finish reads smooth rather than glittery, a warm gold glow from a few feet away that still holds in macro shots.

Under Convention Lights and Phone Flash

Con halls are a lighting gauntlet: overhead fluorescents flatten color, phone flashes bounce off nearby walls, and the after-party throws colored gel over everything. A saturated warm gold tends to survive all of it, staying legible in stage photos and panel-line shots where cooler shades go dull.

Styling It With Costume and Makeup

Warm palettes are the natural partner here: amber, bronze, russet, sunset orange. A soft brown liner plus a touch of gold or copper on the lid keeps the eye in one family, and a defined brow stops the look from floating. On party nights gold pops hardest against black, oxblood or a metallic outfit — lean into that contrast instead of competing with it.

From a Cosplayer’s Kit Bag

“I wore these for a group shoot and kept them in for the after-party,” one creator told us. “Under stage lights they stayed warm, and they did not flatten out in group photos.”

CCUS EYEWEAR

CCUS EYEWEAR makes gold cosplay lenses and party contacts for convention cosplay, stage photos and costume makeup.

Care reminder: wash and dry your hands before handling your lenses, rinse and air-dry the case, and store them properly between wears.

  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
