Short version: brown contact lenses with a dark cocoa core and no rim, one even wash from center to edge — no dot texture, no printed ring, no hard outline around the iris. For a witch cosplay build where the eye should read warm and storybook-plain, that missing edge is the whole point.

Match the Character

Cocoa at the pupil, mocha at the outer edge, one continuous tone instead of a graphic two-tone lens. That suits witches, gothic Lolita heroines and any costume where the eyes should look born-in rather than switched on, and it doubles as an easy brown cosplay lens on a party night because nothing in the shade fights the outfit.

Stage Light and Phone Flash

Con halls are unforgiving: overhead LEDs, gels on stage, a friend’s flash two feet away. With no dark ring to catch the light, the iris keeps a softer border and the shade still reads from the third row. Warm tungsten pulls the mocha warmer, cool gels cool it down, so take one test frame at the judge’s distance before a full set — witch cosplay contact lenses depend on that check.

Wig, Makeup, Costume

Keep the palette in one family: cocoa or auburn wig, bronze or terracotta shadow above the crease, plum-brown liner instead of black, sheer brown lip. Gothic Lolita or witch styling both work — let the iris carry the warmth and keep the rest cool. A soft lash line sits better with a rimless lens than a sharp graphic wing, and a clean lower lash line keeps the edge fade visible.

A creator I shoot with put it simply: “It never shouts in the photos. It just holds the character’s eye color every frame.”

CCUS EYEWEAR keeps the brief costume-first: an even brown wash, full coverage, and edges that stay out of the character’s way.

Care: clean, dry hands, insert before lash glue and foundation, fresh solution in the case, and take them out if your eyes complain.

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.

  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
