Quick Answer

Ember Lace Red Contact Lenses are a vivid red lens with a bright coral core and a deeper crimson rim. If you want eyes that land first in a photo, this is the pair to reach for.

What the Shade Looks Like

In the close-up, the base reads as a saturated coral-red, not a wine or brick tone. Fine striations fan outward from the clear center like spokes of light, and the outer third settles into a dotted mesh that softens the edge. A darker crimson ring frames the rim, so the iris looks defined rather than faded, and a small glossy highlight near the center keeps the red from looking flat.

What to Wear With Red

Red is a statement, so let the rest of the look breathe.

1. Cream and Camel Neutrals. An oatmeal knit, an ivory silk shirt, a camel trench, brown leather boots, brushed gold hoops. Warm neutrals push the red brighter instead of fighting it.

2. Black Leather and Charcoal. A black moto jacket, a charcoal wool blazer, matte black boots, silver hardware. This is the after-dark version.

3. Washed Denim and Cool Blue. A light-wash denim jacket, a white tee, a navy pleated skirt, pale blue cotton. Cool blues pull the coral side forward.

Where They Fit

These red contact lenses shine in photos, at parties, and in cosplay styling where a red-eyed character look is the goal. For travel, one close-up with red eyes is memorable. On a normal Tuesday, they work if the rest of your face stays minimal: clean skin, one lip, bare lids.

Everyday Wear: Yes

Yes, with a caveat. They work on a regular day when you balance them — one bold element, everything else quiet. Skip them for a conservative office or any meeting where you would rather blend in.

FAQ

What color are these red contact lenses? A vivid coral-red with a deeper crimson rim, closer to a bright ember than a dark burgundy.

What should I wear with them? Warm neutrals like cream, camel, and tan, or sharp black and charcoal. Add one metal: gold with warm outfits, silver with dark ones.

Can I wear them every day? Yes, if you keep the rest of your makeup low-key and let the red be your one statement piece. They are too loud for a strict dress code.

Shop Ember Lace

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
