Seville Solstice Blue on the Con Floor

Two days before the con and you still want blue contact lenses that read as a character choice, not a colored wash. Seville Solstice Blue is for the cosplayer who plans the wig, the liner and the light in the same breath. The blue sits clean and even, deepening toward the pupil and easing outward so the eye keeps its shape instead of flattening into a disc.

What the Eye Looks Like

The field runs from a denser center into a lighter mid-ring with a gentle fade at the edge. No heavy dark rim cuts around the iris, which keeps the look open and faintly ethereal — good for manga-eyed builds, half-elf cosplay contacts and any character whose eyes should glow rather than stare.

Stage, Ring Light, Phone Flash

Con halls mix warm bulbs, cold LED panels and direct phone flash, and a smooth blue tends to hold across all three. Take a test selfie by the venue doors before your first panel, tilt your chin down so the catchlight sits off-center, and ask your photographer to shoot at eye level so the blue reads in the final frame.

Wig, Makeup, Outfit

Stay cool with the palette: silver, ice blue, soft grey, taupe. Orange or rust in the crease fights the blue. A platinum, ash-blue or white wig frames it, and silver trim or pale fabric keeps the silhouette as one idea. For the after-party, add glitter to the lid and keep liner thin so the lens stays the loudest thing on your face.

From a Cosplayer’s Kit Bag

“I wore them for a full con weekend with a blue-toned costume, and the eyes held their shape in every hallway photo — soft at the edge, bright in the middle, easy to style around.”

CCUS EYEWEAR makes colored lenses for the cosplay and party side of the hobby, where the eyes are part of the costume.

Care reminder: handle with clean, dry hands, store in a clean case with fresh solution between wears, and never swap lenses with a friend at the con.

Contact Lens Care Guidelines

  • We recommend a rub and rinse before soaking soft lenses for a minimum of 6 hours in their container.
  • Don't wear contact lenses overnight.
  • Don't wear your contact lenses in the shower or while swimming.
  • Don't reuse contact lens solution.
  • Don't use saline solution for contact lens cleaning or disinfection.
  • Replace your contact lens case every two to three months.
  • Take out your contacts if they are bothering you.
  • Never use saliva as a wetting agent.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
