Green contact lenses that build an iris, not just tint one
Green contact lenses usually just add color. This one rebuilds the iris: a bright lime-yellow field of fine halftone dots that tightens into a dense green-to-charcoal rim. For Hikaru it gives the eye that flat, summer-lit glow — someone standing in heat haze, calm and a little off.
The halftone dot mesh up close
Off the eye the structure is visible: a dot-matrix mesh, tiny stippled points carrying the lime center outward instead of banding it. The dark rim is the defining edge — a soft dotted fade into charcoal — and it is what makes the color read as a character eye rather than a colored circle. On the eye the stipple melts into a gradient over a clear center.
Lighting and convention photography
Flash flattens saturation and hall lighting pushes green toward grey, so Hikaru cosplay contact lenses hold better against a dark background with a neutral bounce. A cool ring light keeps the yellow-green from going mustard; warm tungsten drags it toward olive. Shoot one test frame before the queue — the dotted rim is what separates iris from sclera at distance.
Makeup, wig and costume
Keep the eye cool-toned: moss or olive shadow on the lid, thin brown liner instead of a heavy black wing, a smudged lower lash line. Ash-brown brows stay cohesive; copper fights the lime. Understanding Your Prescription

Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes

SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)

BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)

DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)

AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
