Quick Answer

Coronation Amber Gold Contact Lenses give the iris a warm honey-gold wash with a softly defined amber edge. They are a vivid but grounded choice for anyone who wants gold contact lenses that read golden in daylight and candlelight.

What the Shade Looks Like

The close-up shows a clear golden base that leans amber rather than yellow. The center is lighter and more translucent, then it deepens into a warm golden-brown at the outer edge. A fine dot-and-mesh pattern runs across the surface, giving the gold a subtle textured finish instead of a flat block of color. A soft highlight sits on the lens surface, and the outer rim stays thin, warm, and soft rather than sharply outlined.

What to Wear With Gold

1. Cream and Camel: Pair with an ivory silk blouse, camel wool blazer, tan leather loafers, and brushed gold hoops. The neutral base lets the amber-gold in your eyes feel intentional.

2. Espresso and Bronze: Try a chocolate satin slip dress, bronze sequin bag, and warm copper jewelry. Keep the lip glossy and the skin fresh so the gold stays the focal point.

3. Olive and Oxblood: Layer an olive utility jacket over a burgundy knit, then add antique gold earrings and dark denim. This combination brings out the deeper amber side of the lens.

Where They Fit

These lenses work beautifully for candlelit dinners, gallery openings, holiday parties, and travel photos. They also suit cosplay and costume styling when you want a regal, gilded mood, but they do not need a full costume to look right.

Everyday Wear: Yes

I would wear these on a normal Tuesday. The amber-gold tone adds warmth without reading as theatrical, especially with clean skin, soft brown eyeliner, and a neutral lip. If your makeup is very cool-toned or heavily blue-based, the lens can clash, so warm up the blush or bronzer first.

FAQ

What color are these lenses? They are a warm amber-gold with a lighter honeyed center, a fine dot-mesh texture, and a soft golden-brown outer rim.

What outfits pair well with gold contact lenses? Cream, camel, espresso, bronze, olive, and oxblood all work; choose warm metals like brushed gold or copper over cool silver.

Can I wear them every day? Yes, for many everyday looks, as long as the rest of your makeup stays in a warm neutral range. For very cool-toned or minimal makeup days, a softer gold may feel more balanced.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
