Quick Answer

Cinnabar Lotus Red Contact Lenses are a vivid crimson shade with real depth. If you want red eyes that read clearly in photos, this is the pair to build a look around.

What the Shade Looks Like

Up close, the base is a deep, saturated crimson rather than an orange-red. Pigment is brightest in a ring around the pupil opening, then softens outward through a fine dotted mesh that echoes a natural iris. Near the outer edge the red deepens into a defined dark rim, which gives the eye a clean outline and keeps the shade from looking flat.

What to Wear With Red Contact Lenses

1. Sharp contrast. White poplin, black wide-leg trousers, silver earrings. Keep the palette tight so the crimson does the talking.

2. Moody layers. An oxblood leather jacket, cream ribbed knit, dark denim, brushed gold hoops.

3. Soft neutrals. Camel wool, dove grey, ivory. Skip orange and hot pink — they fight the shade.

Where They Fit

Concerts, cosplay conventions, holiday parties, and moody portrait shoots suit this color. It also works for a night out when your outfit is mostly black.

Everyday Wear: Yes

These red contact lenses can be part of a normal day, with one honest caveat: the shade is bold, so it reads as a choice. Pair them with minimal makeup and simple clothing for class, brunch, or a creative office. If your daily look is barely-there, save them for evenings.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
