Quick answer
Candlelit Ruby Red Contact Lenses are a saturated ruby red with a fine dot-mesh finish. If you want red contact lenses that look bold up close and warm in daylight, this is that pair.
What the Shade Looks Like
The close-up shows a true ruby base, brightest around the pupil and deepening toward a darker red edge. The texture is a dense micro-dot mesh rather than a solid wash, so the surface has a soft, speckled depth. The outer edge stays in the same red family, so the finish stays rich instead of heavy.
What to Wear With Red
Red is a statement shade, so keep the outfit calm and let one piece echo the iris.
-
Soft neutrals. A cream ribbed knit, oatmeal linen trousers, a tan leather belt, small gold hoops, a nude lip.
-
Black and leather. A black slip dress under a cropped leather jacket, silver huggies, matte black ankle boots.
-
Denim and white. A plain white tee, an oversized light-wash denim jacket, a grey wool coat, a slim silver chain.
Where They Fit
These red contact lenses are for moments when the eye is the point: dinner, a gallery opening, early-evening photos, or a cosplay look. On a desk day, keep the makeup minimal so it reads beauty, not costume.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one rule: let the red be the loudest thing you’re wearing. Bare skin, groomed brows, mascara, and a neutral lip keep it clean. This is not a subtle pair — the shade is unapologetically red.
FAQ
What color are these red contact lenses? A deep ruby red with a fine dotted mesh, most intense around the pupil and darker at the edge.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
