Quick answer
Butterfly Clip Amber Brown Contact Lenses are a warm brown pair built for frosted Y2K makeup. They read as brown contact lenses, not a costume color.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a lit honey-amber brown that turns lighter near the pupil and settles into deeper chestnut through the middle of the iris. There is no heavy black ring; the outer edge deepens slightly and melts into your own iris line.
Up close you can see a fine dotted print — pixel-like dots, not a starburst — and a smooth surface with a soft sheen.
What to Wear With Amber Brown
-
Frost and denim. Low-rise bootcuts, a cropped baby tee, a pale blue zip hoodie — cool blue warms the amber.
-
Glossy night out. A champagne satin slip dress, a thin silver chain, and a heavy gloss.
-
Soft office. Cream knit, camel blazer, taupe trousers, gold-toned jewelry.
Where They Fit
Coffee runs, class, and workdays where you want a little warmth. They also suit party photos and cosplay styling, since flash pulls the gold forward. Travel days are easy too.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, these are everyday-friendly. The brown stays soft at work and only becomes a statement with thick liner, glitter, or a bold lip. Skip them for a fully bare eye — the amber glow does show in daylight.
FAQ
What color are these lenses? A warm honey-amber brown that lightens near the pupil and deepens to soft chestnut at the edge.
What pairs well with them? Cool tones — pale blue, silver, frosty white — flatter the amber; cream and camel keep it quiet.
Are they too much for everyday? No — the dotted print is subtle up close, and the brown contact lenses stay soft in normal light.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
