Quick Answer
Bruges Mist Grey Contact Lenses are a fully pigmented smoke grey that sits evenly over the iris in daylight — quiet everyday grey, not a frosty statement.
What the Shade Looks Like
The base is a true medium grey with no blue or silver cast. The tone stays level from the center out to the edge, then softens into the iris instead of stopping at a hard line. The surface is a fine dotted mesh: tiny printed dots that read smooth from arm’s length, with a scatter of darker specks that keep the grey from going flat. Coverage is full and even, with no shimmer.
What to Wear With Grey
Grey keeps an outfit calm.
-
Oat and cream. Oatmeal crewneck, cream silk shirt, ivory denim, brushed silver hoops.
-
Charcoal and cool blue. Slate wool blazer, washed blue tee, dark indigo jeans, gunmetal over gold.
-
All black, mixed texture. Black ribbed knit or a satin slip dress, so the grey iris is the only soft note.
Where They Fit
Office, travel day, dinner, portraits. They hold up in window light and stay believable at a party without tipping into costume, yet they can carry a doll-like cosplay base just as easily.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes. They stay believable with bare skin, minimal makeup and neutral clothing. They are not for anyone chasing a bright, icy pop — this one is deliberately quiet.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
