Quick answer

Bare Linen Mocha Brown Contact Lenses are a soft, milky brown that warms the iris without turning it dramatic — an easy everyday pick if you are shopping for brown contact lenses.

What the Shade Looks Like

The base is a creamy mocha brown, lightest around the pupil and deeper through the middle of the iris. A dense, fine dot mesh blends the color so it reads as a wash rather than a flat disc. A small glossy highlight sits fixed on the surface, keeping the eye looking lit in daylight. No hard rim — the brown softens and fades at the outer edge.

What to Wear With Brown Contact Lenses

1. Warm Neutral Weekend. Oatmeal linen shirt, cream tank, ecru jeans, tan sandals, small gold hoops, nude balm.

2. Clean City Minimal. Black blazer, white tee, dark denim, silver studs, clear gloss — the brown warms a cool, graphic outfit.

3. Evening Depth. Chocolate slip dress or espresso knit, bronze jewelry, terracotta lip. Deep browns read richer after dark.

Where They Fit

Office light, long travel days, brunch and casual portraits. For a party or cosplay they still work — add stronger liner and a bolder lip rather than treating them as a costume.

Everyday Wear: Yes

This is an everyday pair in the quietest sense. The shade stays soft indoors and warmer in daylight, so it reads like a slightly warmer natural eye. Skip it when you want a fully bare eye or high contrast.

Typical Contact Lens Prescription

Eye Power/SPH BC DIA CYL
OD (Right) -2.25 8.8 14.0 -1.25
OS (Left) -3.00 8.8 14.0 -1.25

Understanding Your Prescription

  • Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
    • OD - Right Eye
    • OS - Left Eye
    • OU - Both Eyes
  • SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
  • BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
  • DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)

Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses

Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:

  • CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
  • AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)

Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes

  • Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
  • BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
