Quick Answer
Amber Suede Brown Contact Lenses deepen the whole iris in one even, warm brown, then let the edge go soft — depth, not decoration. One pair, bare skin, minimal makeup.
What the Shade Looks Like
In the close-up the base is a rich, even brown: deep chocolate indoors, warmer mid-brown in daylight, holding steady through the center and mid-iris before easing into a lighter mid-tone. No dark outer rim, no drawn circle — just a smooth, softly diffused surface with full coverage. It photographs as your own eyes, only deeper.
What to Wear With Brown
-
Cream and camel. Ribbed cream tank, oatmeal cardigan, camel wide-leg trousers, small gold hoops.
-
Deep contrast. Chocolate knit dress, espresso trousers, a burgundy bag, brushed silver earrings.
-
Dusty color. Dusty rose blouse, sage linen shirt, terracotta skirt, ivory trench, mixed metals.
Where They Fit
Work, class and errands first. Travel and photo days suit them, because the depth holds indoors without shouting in daylight. At a party or in a costume look, they play the quiet eye while liner or lipstick carries the drama.
Everyday Wear: Yes
Yes, with one caveat. The tone stays inside natural range and the edge is soft, so as brown contact lenses go, this reads believable at a desk or in a group photo. It only feels off when you want obvious color change or heavy graphic makeup.

Understanding Your Prescription
-
Eye - Which eye the prescription line item is for:
- OD - Right Eye
- OS - Left Eye
- OU - Both Eyes
-
SPH - Sphere (this can also be referred to as Power or PWR)
-
BC - Base Curve (usually a number between 8 and 10)
-
DIA - Diameter (usually a number between 13 and 15)
Toric (Astigmatism Correcting) Lenses
Some patients require lenses that are toric or astigmatism correcting. Prescriptions for these types of lenses will also contain two additional numbers that relate to the correction of the astigmatism. These two numbers are usually separated by an "X" and read as "times", they are indicated with the following symbols/abbreviations:
-
CYL - Cylinder (usually a number between -4.00 and +4.00)
-
AX - Axis (usually a number between 0 and 180)
Additional Contact Lens Prescription Notes
- Your prescription will also contain an expiration date. This is typically one year from the date that the contact lenses were fitted.
- BC values range from about 8.0 to 10.0. The doctor fits the lens with the curvature most appropriate for your eye. Most lenses come in several different BC values. If your prescription does not contain a BC value, this is likely because your brand of lens only comes in one base curve.
